Full-Time Faculty Position / Dept. of History
Two Positions: Modern Asian History; Modern World History (specialty non-Asia)
Open rank – assistant professor, associate professor, or professor
- Doctorate in history or related field of studies.
- Candidates must have work(s) published within 5 years at time of application.This can either be a book published by a professional or academic publisher (with verification letter from publisher about peer review process).Or, the publication record can be two peer reviewed articles in academic journals.A research grant from Taiwan’s Ministry of Science and Technology can take the place of one article.
Applicants must be able to teach at least one English-taught class per semester; non-Chinese speaking applicants with a working knowledge of Mandarin Chinese preferred.The newly appointed person has to fulfill university requirements for re-appointment andhas to work towards promotion to the next level of ranking within 6 to 8 years upon starting at the university.
Required application materials: copy of doctoral diploma (or letter from dean’s office showing successful defense before August 31, 2018), 3 copies of dissertation and master’s thesis, and other writing sample (with Chinese or English synopsis); doctoral and master’s degree transcripts; curriculum vitae; list of publications, research plan, proposed courses to teach and sample syllabi (at least one English-taught class)
Candidates without a doctoral degree, but with an exceptional record of publication and teaching, will be required to provide an official certification of position and the other requirements as stated above, excluding dissertation.
Application materials must be postmarked by September 1, 2018. Anticipated starting date for appointment is February 2019.
Applicants who reach the second-round will be interviewed on campus. NCCU will not cover travel expenses.
